Once we’d met the rest of the crew and mingled around for a while, the captain dismissed them to their duties. “Some of you stay, Juteng has some information we need,” I said as the others were about to follow their human counterparts.

“I’d like RJ, Thacos, Tuhin, Fern, Ike, Tala, and Bataar to stay,” Juteng said, glancing around the room.

“You heard her,” I said.

The rest filed out while those staying cleaned their trays.

I watched as Juteng then flew above us and morphed into her larger self.

“She truly is beautiful,” Tala said.

I couldn’t agree more and felt honored to have her with us. I just wished Sin was here to see this too. Of all of my team, I knew Sin would know what Juteng was and her history.

“There are many images you will have seen in and around the royal palaces across the galaxy,” Juteng said. “From the late emperor’s to even that of the Mara’s home world, the Tricaran have been depicted in murals by artists for millennia.”

“You know of the Mara’s home planet?” Thacos asked. “What you speak of is displayed for all to see in their great hall.”

“I do,” she said. Then before here, a visual image of space shimmered and appeared. “This is their home planet, the one they protect the most, the one where Amantra will be waiting for you.”

All eyes were on me then.

“I wasn’t sure I believed what Ráir had said.” Tala lowered her head to me. “Forgive me.”

“My destiny to stop the evil tainting the universe is different from yours,” I said. “But the path I am on with you still takes us both a similar way.”

The image of the planet changed, zooming in and focusing on a beautiful palace. Beautiful tall towers rose high into the skies, topped with multicolored glass windows. “They really knew how to build back then,” I said and marveled at the design.

“The palaces were built in a time of agreement between the four factions,” Juteng said as the images moved and changed with her. “A great time of peace with the world. When my species dominated the skies.”

We drew in closer and then were inside the palace. The great hall spread before us, thousands of people dressed in long flowing much thicker coats than I’d know, it indicated a time thousands of years previous where the weather was harsher. Painters on shaky wooden scaffolding dotted around, working on highly detailed murals of a war, a war where Tricaran fought in the skies.

“I’ve seen something like this, on Zola too,” Tala said. “Grand Master Saito once explained to me. Of times past, of blood and many deaths.”

“Yes,” Juteng said. “That time of peace did not last. An accident took the ruler of Puccado. A great war broke out then as they retaliated. One which decimated the universe. One similar is coming now—the cycles never change, only the people.” She sadly lowered her head. “Only those of us old enough to remember hurt.”

“How old are you?” I asked, then cringed.
